Most websites use a consistent footer design across all pages. This is standard practice, as footers typically provide supplementary information such as social media links, terms and conditions, or a newsletter signup form. While useful, footers are generally not as critical as headers for user navigation.
However, there may be cases where a different footer is needed for certain pages—such as a custom footer for a members-only section or a minimal footer for an event page.
This is where Conditional Footers come in. This feature allows you to create multiple footer designs, each with its own layout and settings, and assign them to specific parts of your website using Blocksy’s conditional module.
Exclusively available in Blocksy Pro, conditional footers are easy to set up and manage, all within the familiar Customiser interface.
Getting Started
Creating a conditional footer is a quick and seamless process. Head over to Customiser → Footer → Footers tab and click on the Create New Footer button. A pop-up modal will appear, where you can give your footer a name. To simplify the setup, you also have the option to duplicate an existing footer’s elements, providing a familiar layout that you can further customise to suit your needs.
Assigning Display Conditions
Once the new footer is created, it will be listed under the Footers tab. Selecting it allows you to modify its design, structure, and settings as needed.
To control where this footer appears, you’ll use display conditions, which are managed through Blocksy’s conditional module. This feature enables you to assign footers to specific sections of your website, such as individual pages, blog posts, product archives, or even dynamic conditions like posts belonging to a certain taxonomy. Additionally, footers can be displayed based on a visitor’s referral URL, making them a powerful tool for personalizing the browsing experience.
For a detailed breakdown of available conditions, we recommend checking out our dedicated Conditional Module documentation.
Global Footer Addendum
One key detail to keep in mind is that the Global Footer cannot be deleted or assigned display conditions. It serves as the site-wide default footer. However, you can easily override it by creating new footers and applying custom display rules, ensuring different sections of your website have the most relevant footer design while maintaining a consistent fallback option.
